10. janvārī Valsts prezidents Edgars Rinkēvičs piedalījās un teica uzrunu Latvijas nacionālo partizānu piemiņas vietas atklāšanā Kuldīgas novada Kabiles pagastā.

“Ziemassvētku laiks mūsu tautas brīvības cīņu vēsturē ir īpašs laiks. Mēs godinām Pirmajā pasaules karā bojā gājušos strēlniekus, mēs atceramies un pieminam tos latviešu karavīrus, kas Otrā pasaules kara laikā Kurzemes Ziemassvētku kaujās atdeva savas dzīvības, cīnoties sirdī un prātā par Latviju, bet svešu valstu karaspēkā. 

Pirms teju 80 gadiem, tumšajos okupācijas laikos, kad šķita, ka brīvības dzirksts ir gandrīz apdzisusi, mūsu nacionālie partizāni uz 24 stundām spēja atjaunot Latvijas valsti mazā teritorijā. Par to mēs viņiem sakām paldies un šodien atklājam pieminekli, lai godinātu viņu piemiņu un atgādinātu par mūsu tautas brīvības alkām,” uzsver Valsts prezidents Edgars Rinkēvičs.
