Rīgā turpinās patriotiska tradīcija – lāpu gājiens uz Sudrabkalniņu

Tradicionālajā lāpu gājienā uz Sudrabkalniņu 31. oktobrī piedalījās arī Saeimas priekšsēdētāja Daiga Mieriņa, Rīgas domes priekšsēdētājs Vilnis Ķirsis, vicemērs Edvards Ratnieks, pieminot ne tikai 6. Rīgas kājnieku pulka kareivjus, kuri 1919. gada novembrī cīnījās pret bermontiešiem Anniņmuižā, bet arī visus Latvijas Neatkarības kara varoņus. 

Svinīgajā pasākumā, ko rīkoja pašvaldības aģentūra “Rīgas pieminekļu aģentūra”, tika akcentēta Latvijas Neatkarības kara vēsturiskā nozīme un notikumi, kas veidojuši mūsu valsts identitāti. 

Pirms diviem gadiem pēc Rīgas pieminekļu aģentūras pasūtījuma tika restaurēts laika zoba un vandaļu izpostītais piemineklis 6. Rīgas kājnieku pulka kareivjiem, kas aizstāvēja Rīgu un piedalījās atbrīvošanas kaujās, kurās krita 41 karavīrs.
