18. augustā Valsts prezidents Egils Levits piedalījās 4. maija Deklarācijas kluba rīkotajā konferencē “Nauda Latvijā no neatkarības atjaunošanas līdz mūsdienām”, kas veltīta Latvijas finanšu un ekonomiskās neatkarības atjaunošanai pirms 30 gadiem. Valsts prezidents norādīja, ka tolaik īstenotā naudas reforma, lata ieviešana, bija tikpat svarīga kā politiskā neatkarības atjaunošana un nostiprināja valsts neatkarību.
