13. janvārī Valsts prezidents Egils Levits apskatīja fotoizstādi “Atceroties 1991. gada barikādes”, kas izvietota laukumā pie Brīvības pieminekļa un Doma laukumā. Vērienīgais fotostāsts iepazīstina ar 1991. gada barikādēm Rīgā un Latvijā un to dalībniekiem.

“Barikādes bija izšķirošs brīdis Latvijai – būt vai nebūt. Visa tauta saliedējās ap Latvijas valsti, valdību un parlamentu un nosargāja to. Tas, ko paveica barikādēs, ir kaut kas neiedomājams, un tas izdevās, jo tauta bija vienota par savu valsti. Tas bija mūsu nācijas valstsgribas pierādījums. Mēs varam pateikties barikāžu dalībniekiem par to, ka mums šodien ir Latvijas valsts,” norāda E. Levits.
